Great NEWS Letter, Issue #016 Billions on Beauty and Bad for Body
April 15, 2010
Hello

Billions on Beauty and Bad for Body

Based on recurring feedback over decades it is easy to see how the multi billion dollar beauty industry seems to be a primary factor for women feeling insecure, unattractive and unhappy with their natural beauty and unique looks. This is done deliberatly in order to manipulate women (and men) into buying their over priced and potentially harmful beauty products. This newsletter is directed towards the beauty industry that manufactures toxic ingredients and products not those that use certified organic ingredients. Remember the saying “Buyer Beware” because it really applies to the billions spent on beauty products. Unfortunatley for the vast majority of women the reality of life is billions on beauty and bad for body.

In the previous newsletter we addressed the toxic ingredients in personal body care products. What most people do not realize is the fact that the body care industry is virtually unregulated and produces an abundant array of toxic ingredients in their products. Unfortuately the same is true for the beauty industry and cosmetics company products. The beauty industry controls billions of dollars by continually advertising and obsessing on the consumers self image and then using make overs and make up to artificially fix them. Their arsenal of harmful vanity products includes: botox, cleansers, cosmetics (base, blush, eye liner, eye shadow, lipstick, mascara, etc.), creams, fake nails, lotions, nail polish, teeth whiteners, sun screens, scrubs and many other products.

The Organic Consumers Association (OCA) has a great website that summarizes the "Organic Cheater Brands" by providing Cosmetic Hazard Scores. By accessing their great website you will learn a wealth of information to protect yourself and your family. The site is: http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com

One of the advocates for honesty and integrity in the body care and cosmetics industry has issued a call to action for companies and consumers alike. “Consumers who pay a premium for high-end organic products expect the main cleansing and moisturizing ingredients of a product labeled “Organic” to be made from certified organic agricultural material produced on organic farms, and not from petrochemicals or pesticide and herbicide-intensive conventional farming,” explains Horst Rechelbacher, founder of Intelligent Nutrients (and founder and previous owner of Aveda).

It would be helpful to discuss the many harmful ingredients in body care and cosmetic products such as dyes, fragrances, parabens, petroleum products, sodium lauryl, triclosan and much more. However the easiest and fastest way for you to learn more about which ingredients and products to avoid is for you to go directly to the great site previously mentioned. Go to this site now to learn more about the safety of your current products. http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com

The Environmental Working Group (EWG) has also provided a handy shoppers guide you can print and use when you are ordering online or shopping for your body care products and cosmetics. Go to this EWG site for more details and the printable shopper guide. http://www.ewg.org/files/EWG_cosmeticsguide.pdf

By investing a little energy and time men and women alike can easily become better educated about personal body care and cosmetics. It is obvious why both should learn about the ingredients in body care products. Why would men want to learn about cosmetics? Remember what women put on their body also affects everyone’s health and the environment therefore men and women must become better informed in order to make better choices before wasting billions on beauty and bad for the body.
